Summer is time to go on vacation. We get away from it all. But God does not take vacations. God is with us all the time. that can be good when we know we need help with something in our life. It can be frustrating when we realize that God knows everything we do even if we hide it from other people.

God is always with us. this is a promise that we always have companionship. We always have someone whose advice is there when we want it. We always have someone who loves us no matter how much we mess up.

Summer is time to play and enjoy life. Let's do it with gusto and praise God for the joy we get to share with God.

spring and God

We are lucky in the northern hemisphere to have spring come with Easter. We can see the renewal of the earth in the flowers and leaves that appear in spring. We are reminded that even when the trees look dead, they are only sleeping, waiting for the warmth of the sun to bud out.

Yet there is more to God than just what we see on earth. God has spoken to us directly through Jesus who came to earth and shared our human lives. When Jesus gives us the Holy Spirit we can see many spiritual things that are invisible to the eye. God reveals himself to us in Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Once we have been touched in this way, there is no doubt that God is real!!

We have to catch faith in Jesus from someone who already knows him. We can read the Bible and catch faith there. We can pray and find Jesus there. We can listen to a friend who knows Jesus and find him in that. But without some direct spiritual connection, the reality of the risen Christ is no more than watching a flower bloom.

It is the love of God that makes all the difference. The earth has no love of us. The earth has it's own existence and rhythm. But God loves human beings so much. It is through Jesus that we know this is true.
